I am a regular reader of your column and I ...Bill:

I am a regular reader of your column and I particularly enjoyed this weeks'. I glad you chose to use this week to reply to the blogger who challenged your comment about high dividend stocks and safety. If we wanted safe investments, none of us would be trading equities. I am recently retired and have read your "...Money Machine" book. I am interested in the "steady stream of income" strategy and I have invested about 15% of my portfolio in high dividend stocks. I actually got into one (WHX) recently as it dropped sharply and was able to get in $4 below its recent high (although it had dropped another $2). I am not concerned with the loss in stock value because I am / will be making over 13% annually. Of course they could go belly up or cut the "dividend" but their history indicates that they have not done so, reduced the "dividend", even in the Fall of '08 when the big drop occurred. I guess the point is that I believe you are right and I am glad you chose to use this week to write about safety and to point out to all of us about knowing ourselves and doing our homework.

John
Toledo, OhioAnonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12932924949109313936noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30128229.post-85217458653726062872010-05-22T15:49:36.102-06:002010-05-22T15:49:36.102-06:00Thanks, Mary.
